Assembly Elections Coming Up!

Student Assembly elections are fast approaching!  Any undergraduate student may run and vote in elections for Student and University Assembly provided that they meet all university registration requirements.

Please note: In order to be eligible to run or to vote, you must have no holds on your university registration by the university’s close of business on Thursday, February 11.  You can determine whether there are any such holds through the Student Center web page, available here: <http://www.studentcenter.cornell.edu/>.  You may also access the Student Center through uPortal.
Please take note of the following elections-related events and deadlines:

  • If you are interested in running for a seat on SA or UA, you must obtain your materials online from the above website, then return your completed candidate materials to the Office of the Assemblies in 109 Day Hall before 12:00PM, Monday, February 15 for validation.
  • A comprehensive information session featuring Kent Hubbell, Dean of Students, for prospective candidates will be held 5-6 PM on Tuesday, February 9, in the Art Gallery, WSH.
  • A public forum for candidates to the Student and University Assemblies will occur from 5-7PM on Tuesday, February 23, in G76 (Lewis Auditorium) Goldwin Smith Hall.
  • You may cast your votes online from 8:00AM, Tuesday, March 2 until 10:00AM, Thursday, March 4.  You will receive a separate email with detailed instructions about voting on March 2.

The term for all seats is the 2010-2011 academic year. Candidates may run for one of the following seats:

  • President (At-Large)
  • Executive Vice President (At-Large)
  • 6 Student Assembly At-Large seats (unspecified to the college of enrollment, including 2 minority liaisons, 1 international liaison, and 1 lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered and questioning community liaison)
  • 11 Student Assembly seats specific to your college of enrollment (3 from Arts and Sciences, 2 from Agriculture & Life Sciences, 2 from Engineering, and 1 each from Human Ecology, Industrial & Labor Relations, Art, Architecture, & Planning, and Hotel Administration)
  • 4 University Assembly undergraduate At-Large seats
