Academic Calendar Revisions: Please Review and Comment!

 To members of the Cornell Community:

I am writing to you as chair of a committee appointed in the fall of 2010 by the Dean of Faculty to consider the advisability of making changes to the Cornell Academic Calendar.

Attached to this message is a pdf that provides some information on the committee and its vision for the process of calendar reform, and outlines the first fruits of the committee’s deliberations, a document titled “Objectives & Principles Guiding the Reexamination of the Academic Calendar”.

These “objectives and principles” are being circulated very broadly for the purpose of eliciting feedback from any and all interested parties, on and beyond the Cornell Ithaca campus. They will be posted at the University Faculty website (http://theuniversityfaculty.cornell.edu/calendar/main.html). 

Please send your comments concerning these objectives and principles should be directed by May 15, 2011, to calendarcommittee@cornell.edu.
